Pixi Beauty – Worth the Fuss?

Hi everyone,

Thanks for coming back to my blog, it’s nice to see you again! If you’ve not been before, then thanks for coming for the first time! I wanted to do a post today about Pixi beauty. Isn’t EVERYONE talking about this brand!? Well I wanted to join in, because I’ve just jumped onto the Pixi bus.

My first Pixi Product…

I suppose if you had to buy one Pixi product, most people would pick the Glow Tonic to try first. That is exactly what I did. This is one of their bestsellers and so I kept my eye on it and as soon as it went on sale I was there! I’ve been using it ever since and I actually really love it (I guess there’s a reason it’s so popular…). I hadn’t actually used toner much in the past. I had memories of it from when I went to college and did makeup, and just didn’t really see the point in it. That was back in the day when I was only about 17, so very ignorant to the importance of skincare!! Now at the age of 24, I realise actually how much difference toner can make. It resets the balance in your skin after cleansing etc. and just makes it all good. Honestly – I don’t understand all the scientific stuff about it, but it seems to do the trick!

Back to Pixi, the best toner I have used so far is the Glow Tonic. I just put a few drops onto a cotton pad and then dab it onto my face morning and night. It gives a really nice clean base for your moisturiser and gets rid of any further impurities that cleansing missed.

Today’s Haul

So the actual reason for me doing this post was because I went a bit wild after work today, and decided to buy 3 more Pixi skincare products to add to my collection! I was aware that Marks & Spencer stock Pixi (good old high street shopping), and so I dashed in before they shut. They then gave the announcement that they were closing in 5 minutes, so I had to make a quick decision which products to buy!! (Shopping is very stressful). I definitely wanted to get something from there, because they are currently doing a fantastic deal where you can get 3 for 2 on Pixi products. There were actually about 3 or 4 (or 10) things that I wanted to try, so this was very exciting for me.

Hydrating Milky Mist

I’d seen on Pixi’s Instagram account that they did a ‘Milky’ range, so I really wanted to try it out. On their site, they mention that it is great for dry skin and the black oat extract reduces inflammation. I don’t have a ‘set’ skin type. I have oily skin, but also very sensitive skin, and I can’t use oily skincare products because they end up making my skin even worse! So I have found that actually using dry skincare products works well for me in terms of breakouts. That is why I wanted to try this. The other thing I really like about this and something that is ESSENTIAL in a face mist… It is a delicate and light spray! I recently tried the Soap and Glory face mist, and that is like squirting a jet stream onto your face. I was so disappointed! So the first thing I did before buying this, was try out the tester. As I said, this is such a ‘featherlight’ mist (to use their own words).

You can use this throughout the day as a moisture boost. Sometimes I find if you wear a full face of makeup, it can start to look a bit flat halfway through the day, but if you use something like this it can really lift it. It is so important to keep moisturised as well, so it’s always good to get an extra spritz in there somewhere! They also suggest using it before makeup, or at bedtime before using your nighttime creams. This one is priced at £18, so was one of my freebies in the 3 for 2 deal! (AMAZING!)

Hydrating Milky Serum

This is such a neat little product! It was actually the most expensive one I got today, priced at £26… I’ve heard great things though, so I really wanted to give it a go, and with the deal it made it okay (yes?) good. This is still within their ‘Milky’ range, but this is a serum. I don’t always treat my skin to a serum, but I really should, because it makes your moisturiser perform wonders! It really helps it to absorb into the skin, and leaves your face feeling incredible. This has a little pipette as you can see in the photo, and I just think the packaging is really lovely. I felt the serum on the back of my hand and actually can’t wait to try it tonight. As with the Mist, this one is really good for dry or dehydrated skin to give it a bit of a boost. It also has aloe vera as well which is really nourishing and soothing. They do quite a few other variations of this serum, including the Vitamin C and Rose Oil Blend which I would really like to try! Have any of you tried either of these?

Rose Tonic

Last but not least is the Rose Tonic. I had actually hoped to find the Milky Tonic in M&S, but for some reason they didn’t have it. So in my 5 minute panic at deciding my last product, I chose this one. I knew that the toners were good (as mentioned earlier), but had been curious to try the Rose range, so was glad they had this. The fragrance is just gorgeous! It’s such a pretty rose (really?) scent. I’m going to have to fight the urge to use this one straight away! I always do that when I buy new items, I find it so hard to use up the last little bits of my current products and wait patiently! If you haven’t tried Pixi before and are a bit apprehensive, firstly, don’t be! Secondly, if you still are, then you can always buy a smaller version of this which is only £10. It’s great if you’re not sure and just want to give it a go! I went straight in at the deep end and got the 250ml size. You can actually get a really big one if you’re super keen which is 500ml!!

Verdict:

So overall I am very excited and happy about my little Pixi skincare haul. The products I have chosen are all very highly rated and so I don’t think I could have made a mistake! Pixi is fast becoming one of my favourite skincare brands and I think one day I would love my entire skincare routine to be Pixi. Another reason why I am so happy with the brand is because they are very proudly cruelty free, which is so important. I’m steering away from non-cruelty free brands (most of the big names), so it is great that a lovely, quality, BRITISH(!) brand is stepping out in this way.

I would definitely recommend this brand to you if you’ve not tried it! If you have, then you know what I’m talking about. Which products do you currently use/own? Did you do the same as me and get the Glow Tonic to begin with?

Hopefully you have enjoyed reading this review! I’ve enjoyed writing it 🙂

Have a lovely weekend, Jessica x
